Janine Jones-Clark is Executive Vice President of Inclusion – Talent & Content for NBCUniversal’s Global Talent Development & Inclusion (GTDI) group. She joined the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) in 2017 to launch GTDI, the first-of-its-kind diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) department for a film studio reporting directly to UFEG Chairman Donna Langley. The business-led group creates programs, initiatives and strategies ensuring that DEI is at the forefront of Universal Pictures, Focus Features and DreamWorks Animation’s work culture and content creation, both in front of and behind the camera.

Building upon NBCUniversal’s longtime DEI commitment, Jones-Clark and her GTDI team provide industry access and identify film production opportunities for underrepresented talent. The group also works closely with executives and filmmakers on DEI sensitivities as it relates to narratives, characters, casting, animation character designs and marketing. Productions the group has worked with include Universal’s Hobbs & Shaw, The Forever Purge, Dear Evan Hansen; Focus Features’ My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 and Champions, DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls World Tour; and Illumination’s Sing 2, and Minions: Rise of Gru.

Since its launch, GTDI has amassed an impressive and inclusive talent pool through its live-action and animation writing programs; directing and composing initiatives; and below-the-line traineeships. Sixty percent of its alumni talent have secured production credits across the industry, with seventy percent of those credits on NBCUniversal content. Highlights include Juel Taylor, co-writer of Universal’s Shooting Stars, based on Lebron James and Buzz Bissinger’s book of the same name; and composer Amie Doherty scoring DreamWorks Animation’s Spirit Untamed, becoming the first female composer to score a DreamWorks Animation feature film, as well as Focus Features’ The High Note, starring Tracee Ellis Ross.

Prior to joining Universal, Jones-Clark had successful careers in television publicity and current programming at FOX, NBC and The WB. She then transitioned into DEI where she applied her marketing and content creation skills to broaden Hollywood’s pool of diverse and female talent. Jones-Clark spent 10 years at Disney|ABC, where she executed writing and directing programs that launched the careers of diverse talent such as Producer/Writer Sierra Teller Ornelas (Rutherford Falls, Superstore), Executive Producer/Creator Zahir McGhee (Queens) and directors Rob Greenlea (NCIS: New Orleans) and Jude Weng (Finding Ohana, Black-ish).

A Los Angeles Native, Jones-Clark received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a dual major in Mass Communications and Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley.
