President, Physical Production Universal Filmed Entertainment GroupJeff LaPlante is President of Physical Production for Universal Pictures. In this role, he oversees all aspects of physical production including budgeting, scheduling, hiring of crews and day-to-day operations.
He has been in his current role since 2015 and overseen several of Universal’s most successful films and franchises including films in the Fast & Furious and Despicable Me series, Oppenheimer and Ticket to Paradise.
LaPlante has more than 21 years of experience in production finance and physical production, having served as Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President of Physical Production for the Studio. He joined Universal as a Senior Finance Executive in 2000 before being promoted to Vice President in 2003.
He began his career as a Production Accountant in the feature film department of Walt Disney Studios. While at Disney, LaPlante worked on projects including Unbreakable, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Rock, Flubber and Crimson Tide.
He received Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Operations Management from California State University Fullerton. Jeff resides in Glendora, CA with his wife and three daughters.
